French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced on the 9th, the French government will invest 400,000,000 euros for the research and manufacture of clean energy vehicles.
On the 9th,Sarkozy inspected the Paris International Motor Show and said that the government will invest 400,000,000 euros public funds in the development of low-carbon car in the next 4 years. The so-called low-carbon cars, refers to the lowest possible emissions of carbon dioxide models, including hybrid and electric vehicles.
Sarkozy said that this century we will face the depletion of oil resources, which means that the traditional concept of the car toward the end. Human faces the enormous challenge of climate change, the automotive industry without exception.
Due to a lot of clean electricity-driven cars, Sarkozy plans to increase the number of charging stations to convenient for people driving this type of environmentally friendly cars. The new charging stations will be set up in the workplace, supermarket and residential areas, and so on.
Sarkozy said he has instructed the minister of the environment Jean-Louis Borloo and Secretary of State in charge of industry to submit a detailed report by the end of June 2009, so as to ensure related measures could be able to come into effect in early 2010.
At present much more producers and consumers have interested in this energy saving and environmental protection, economical car. However, the industry believes that although this type of vehicle is environmental protection, but there are still many difficulties in the market, such as automotive batteries can not be used for a long time, the charging station is difficult to be build in scale in a short term, and so on. In addition, the electric vehicle research and development costs are very high.
